A range of sports activities are available for students to develop their individual talent and teamwork skills.

Every class attends a swimming programme of 8 consecutive lessons held at the Keith Spry Pool during Term 1.

These sessions are run by qualified swimming instructors who teach small groups of students, catering for all levels
of swimming ability.

This develops and extends student’s swimming and water safety skills. Statistics show that very good swimming
progress results from having instruction over an intensive period such as this.

St Brigid’s offers winter netball for any child in Years 4-8.  Games are played as part of the Northern Suburbs Netball
Competition on Saturday mornings either at Newlands Intermediate School or Newlands College.  Each team is coached or co-coached by parents and an umpire is also assigned to each team.

We also have an introduction to netball for any Year 3 students or new players wishing to start playing
netball.  This is offered in Term 1, before the netball season commences.

Another opportunity is Kiwi Whistler for Year 8 players.  This is where you learn how to umpire
and then are assigned to games on a Saturday morning.  Past St Brigid’s students who have done
this course now umpire for the school.

The school enters basketball (for Year 7&8) and (for Year 3&4, and Year 5 & 6) teams in the league run by the Nairnville Recreation Centre in Khandallah. Miniball is a version of basketball for young players.

Games are played at the Nairnville Recreation Centre on Mondays (Yr 5&6) and Tuesdays (Yr 3&4) and Fridays (Yr 7&8) in Terms 2 & 3.
