Reporting to Parents

Rationale

Successful learning is based on active participation in the learning process by students, teacher and parents.

Purpose

  • To inform parents of their child’s progress and achievement in relation to the NZ Curriculum; and
    • To foster a partnership between school and home.

Objectives

  • Parents and caregivers will have reasonable access to their child’s details of progress at school.
  • Formal reporting in writing will occur twice a year:

  • Years 1-3 approximately every 6 months from school entry
  • Years 4-8 mid year and end of year

  • Formal opportunities will be provided twice a year for parents or caregivers to discuss their child’s progress and next steps with individual teachers.
  • Approaches to discuss a child’s progress at a time other than those formal times may be arranged with the classroom teacher.
