Welcome to St Brigid's Primary School

Cybersafety Procedure

As part of St Brigid's School Cybersafety Procedure it states that we must have written permission from parents for students to use the Internet and computers safely within our school. To do this we need to make sure students are aware of the rules that are in place in our school regarding computer use.

This Cybersafety Student Agreement will be displayed and referred to by classroom teachers in their programmes. We would appreciate it if you would go through this Agreement with your child. Parents are asked to sign this Agreement to show they are aware of the procedures and guidelines that we have in place to safeguard their child and their working on the Internet. If your child is 7 years old or older then they are asked to sign the Agreement and return it to school. If your child is 5 or 6 then we ask parents/caregivers to sign the Agreement and return it to school. These forms will be kept on file in classrooms and only students with signed Agreements will be able to use the computers in our school.

We take this opportunity to remind parents that some sites such as facebook, bebo and youtube (for uploading movies) have a 13 years and over restriction. We would like to encourage parents to therefore be aware of the sites your children use. We would also ask that you ensure that any school activities are not posted on these sites without permission from school.

We thank you for taking the time to discuss these matters with your child as they are important for use of the internet at home and at school.
